About the data

Where does the data come from?

We review each Am Law 100 firm's careers site, along with job postings on LinkedIn and on other job boards these employers use. By nature, this data set is not complete. If you come across a role we have missed, please let us know and we will add it.

What counts as a legal engineering role?

Legal engineers turn legal expertise, judgment and workflows into structured, repeatable systems in the tools lawyers use: automated workflows, AI prompts and pipelines, tool configurations and encoded playbooks. The role translates between lawyers and technology and does not focus on writing code. As legal engineering is still in its early stages as a position, it is often referred to by different names. We count a role by the work it describes, whatever its title.

What are related roles?

Roles that work alongside legal engineers or support the systems they use. Some are technical and data roles that build or support the AI and data systems behind legal work. Others are legal-side roles such as legal operations, project management, research, eDiscovery and training. General IT roles are not included.

How is salary determined?

Salaries use the midpoint of the employer’s posted range or, where none is posted, LinkedIn’s best estimate.
